That has nothing to do with weddings, but I was just on the weddingbee reading and heard something in the kitchen. I walked in on a mouse!!!! Ahhh, she ran across the floor and hid under the oven!!! I am so freaked out right now, I have never seen a “wild” mouse and to top if off my husband is not home right now!!! I don’t hate mice or anything, but that just grosses me out. I just baked cookies and they are on a high shelf but I will throw them away as soon as I dare t go in there again. Worst is that our kitchen and living room don’t have doors (we live in NYC and doors are just too mucht to ask for I guess) so I just built a fort to block all spaces between kitchen and livingroom. Put all wallpictures I have to block the entrance way. Thank god we have a bedroom door!!! That will be a horrible night:(

@Ilovetruffels: eewwww!!! Once I was in my bed and woke up to a strange noise, there was a mouse on the floor of my room and it was like making a nest from my carpet!! Another time I got up to pee, was sitting on the toilet and a mouse comes running towards the bathroom!!! yuck i hate mice!!

I used to live in Brooklyn and saw the occasional mouse. You can get cruelty-free mouse deterrents if you want to go that route. They just emit a sound that they can hear but you can’t when the mouse goes near the sensor, which you place near a doorway or something. They’re electromagnetic or ultrasonic.

Haha…. I live in NYC too and we had a little Mickey run across the floor the other day… on the 5th floor. I don’t understand that part. I thought I had him trapped for when Darling Husband came home, but he got out of it somehow. I hate the idea that there is a mouse (or MICE!) in my apartment. We’ve put out traps and cleaned a lot, but we haven’t seen anything else.

I feel this way about bugs but not about mice. I mean, they’re furry, they’re mammals, and they have absolutely no desire to attack a human unprovoked and even if you harrassed one, its ultimate defense would be to nip your finger in a way not unlike getting that finger stuck in a clothespin (not that I’d recommened it, as they might be sick).
They’re not as cute as kittens or anything but if you get over how startlingly fast they can scurry sometimes, maybe you could see the cute and benign factors too?

@joya_aspera: I feel the same way about them. I don’t want them in my house or apartment, but I don’t want to hurt them either so I use the cruelty-free electromagnetic mouse/rat deterrents.

I actually have a pet hamster (seriously I do), but that mouse that tries to steal my food and might carry diseases is not that cute:( That ultrasound trap sounds like a great idea! Thanks! I really don’t wanna kill it, I just want it to stay away. We also live on the 4th floor, those mice must be incredible at climbing stairs or walls or something!

We get little field mice towards the end of the year when it gets cold outside. There was one that ALWAYS ran into the bathroom when my fi was pooping.
