It would bother me too if this happened to my ring especially when you paid for a very very good brand.  Can you contact Simon G directly rather than through your jeweler?  Did they really send it back to diamond G to fix it?  One thing though, I guess a lot of time having a ring fix might make it worst especially in delicate detail like this.  Contact Simon G and see how they response.

I cannot see what problems you are referring to in your photos, but I believe you when you say it isn’t right.

A friend of mine had an issue with a Simon G ring.  They had to keep sending it back to the designer as the jewelers do not do the repairs on that brand (IOW it had to be sent back to Simon G.)

They told my friend the same thing they told you – that because their rings are handmade, they are not going to be perfect.

My friend finally did get things resolved but it took a while and a lot of back and forth between her, the jeweler and Simon G.

I believe Miss Noodles also had a problem with her Simon G ring.  I don’t remember the outcome of her situation though.

@country chic:  Yep… sure did.  Same ring as a matter of fact.  Apparently the milgrain (OP is referring to it as filagree) is made by hand, so there can be variations in thickness etc…

OP, take a look through my threads about all the troubles I’ve had with my ring.  My dilemma was the same, this is a bloody expensive setting and I didn’t appreciate the feeling that we had been ripped off after paying so much more for this designer, who we thought had a stellar reputation.

Long story short, after sending it back 4 times, they are making me a new setting at no charge.  Go to the jeweller and demand this. Trying to fix it will probably just make it look worse.

PM me if you have more questions.

I posted a apic in your other thread for you.

I should add. as well that Simon G has totally satisfied me at the end of my saga, they are concerned abiut maintaining their reputation, so I have no doubt you’ll be able to have your issues resolved too.

I absolutely see it. That’s not right. Like you said, if they’re capable of making one side right, then the other side deserves the same attention to detail. The fact that the ring is hand made is no excuse. Keep us posted. They better make this right.

Hand made does not equate to poorly made! Artisans have the ability to make very precise, small details… They need to make that right for you! I think it is noticeable enough to require improvements, and above and beyond what we think, it’s *your* ring, and if it bothers you, you should have them fix it. If they can’t or won’t fix it, and returning the ring is an option, I’d go with another manufacturer that takes pride in their work. Good luck!

And P.S., it’s a gorgeous ring, it will look stunning once you’ve gotten it just the way you want it.

As I mentioned earlier, Simon G was re-making my ring for me, so here are a pair of pics for you.  Neither of these are particularely PRETTY photos, but you can see how even the milgrain is on the accent diamonds, and on the basket.  Good luck!
