So, today is my first dress fitting. This will be the first time I slip into MY actual dress — the one I’ll be wearing down the aisle and becoming Brendan’s wife in. YAY! That’s pretty exciting — I haven’t seen it yet.
Last time I wore the dress was when I went bridesmaid shopping at the boutique. I showed my sister (bridesmaid) who hadn’t seen me in it yet. She was at school when we bought it so she wasn’t there but my other sister (also bridesmaid) was there. Well, Maid/Matron of Honor was in town for bridesmaid shopping (all the way from RI) and they let me put the sample back on to show her. =) BUT my bridesmaid Reba hasn’t seen it yet! She’s coming today to see me in the dress for the first time in person, yay!
Anyways, I’m nervous. It’s like “oh here’s your beautiful dress that we have to pin a bajillion ways so it will fit you right.” They will too o_o the top was too big on the sample and we ordered the same size as the sample. So eeps! Kinda scary.
Anyways, I barely slept last night because my tooth (quite possibly my wisdom tooth) has decided to act like a beeyotch. It hurts =( and I’m kinda wiped out right now so hopefully I don’t get grouchy, lol.
Wish me luck! I’ll report back later for those who haven’t had a fitting yet. Maybe I can shed some light on what’s to come for my fellow October Bees! <3
Bzzzz, I’m out!

@NCSUchick27: Good luck!
It went really well. I was so worried about them having to shorten my dress because of my flats. For some reason I didn’t realize this….but they like ordered my dress to my measurements (height, etc). So they don’t really have many alterations to do! The length of my dress was fine so no heels were needed.
I thought it would take awhile to do everything but she just kinda pinned me here and there and then I was done. It took a half hour. They’re gonna do the bustle alterations at my second fitting. For now they just worked on the top of my dress trying to get it to fit me better. I lost weight apparently =P my bustier fits better too now.
It has to be taken in and then September 21st I go for my second fitting. I only will have two fittings it sounds like. I may have to go back after she does the bustle/steams it for a final fitting? But I dunno. She’ll need to explain how to bustle my dress up so I assume that’s the plan. I dunno
Anyways, it was REALLY easy. I basically stood there and she’d pull the dress tighter to my body and ask if I was good to go and I’d say yes or no and she’d pin me when it felt right. =) She’s a really nice lady — she was playing with my little sister. Hahaha, it was cute.
She also is adding the comb to my veil — so that will be done when I go in on September 21st too.
If anyone has any questions about what else to expect at a fitting I’d be happy to answer them. I think my fitting was very short because my dress was ordered based on measurements. I didn’t know this until I went in today. The sample was signifigantly bigger on me than my dress…and I lost weight so she explained that it was ordered to my measurements.
I just got skinnier since last time =P woot! Hahaha
No pictures for now. Groomy knows I live on the bee, lol. I’m paranoid he will see hahahahaha, sorry!

I called to make an appt for my first fitting thinking it would be sometime this month but the seamstress highly suggested I wait until first week of September(I only need train of dress removed and dress taken in…and dress is chiffon with no beading, lace, etc). She assured me it would be plenty of time for her to do all the alterations in time for wedding. Oh well, gives me an extra month to work on my fitness goals for the wedding 🙂

@SuperDuperBrit: Glad it went well! But I can’t believe you’re withholding pics!
I had my first fitting yesterday, too. I’m having the bodice taken in and cups and sash sewn in, as well as a hem and a bustle. My seamstress does three fittings; we’ll tweak the bodice and learn how to tie the bustle at the second fitting, and then the third fitting is just to make sure everything is perfect. Then she steams and packs it, and I go back a fourth time to pick it up.

@nursemel: That’s cool! My dress has a lot of of lace and some beading on it so they wanted me to come in the first week of August and then I don’t go back until the 21st of September. At that point she’ll have the dress taken in (hopefully it will fit perfectly at that point so I won’t need to do additional alterations) and then we’ll do the bustle alterations and my girls will learn how to bustle it up.
And then once that’s done and the dress has been steamed. It’ll be coming home with meeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
I guess the bustle doesn’t take long to do because the 21st of September gives her about I guess a little over two weeks to do the alterations before the wedding. So hopefully no other major changes will be needed. ^_^
@LittleRiver: Nice! Yeah, I was expecting three but she said she doesn’t have that much to do so it’ll be quicker I guess. ^_^ I’m excited to go back and have it fit perfectly. In the pictures I have the dress is slightly bigger than it needs to be so it doesn’t show off my figure as much =P
