OK I’m panicking a bit, my wedding is next week and I feel so disorganised – Apart from worrying about whether people will like my dress and also haven’t sorted shoes, jewellery or what, if anything to put in my hair. help!
We are having a beach wedding and I do not normally wear much in the way of jewellery or hair accessories, but want to wear something simple but pretty for the wedding so it looks like I’ve made some effort!
This is my dress (please excuse the slightly loose fit, I was on my own so couldn’t tie the back properly!)
So my questions are:
1) should I go for a necklace or not? The shoulder strap is removable and at the moment I’m not sure if I will wear it or not, but the lady in the dress shop said she thought it wold look better without a necklace if I was wearing the shoulder strap.
2) What would look best with my hairstyle – it is a short pixie style. I was originally thinking I would just have it as it normally is, but am wondering about a ribbone hairband or something? I think I can get a flower to put in my hair at the place we’re getting married, but not sure how to attach it firmly but invisibly with my hairstyle?
I was thinking of getting backdrop necklace to have something pretty down my back, but don’t think I can get one in time now, so I did wonder about having a pretty ribbon headband with the ribbon ties hanging down instead but I’m not sure how this would look with a short hairstyle -would it be too hard to hide knot where it is tied?
I’d love to see pics of any brides on here who have tried any of these things – or any ideas for things to try that are simple to try in a short space of time!

I think doing something special in your hair is DEF the way to go. You have a beautiful face, neckline, and a beautiful flower, ribbon headband, hair pin will just be stunning!

@icetea: thanks so much for your compliments, really appreciate it as I’ve been having a bit of a panic moment worrying about whether it will all look alright!
so a bit of an update… I’ve now managed to get some sparkly sandals to wear under my dress, a bit more sparkly than I imargined or than I wield normally wear but I actually really like them and am wondering when I can wear them again after the wedding!
also managed to go shopping with my parents today as they just arrived to visit us after not seeing them for 6 months ( we live on the other side of the world!) and my mom was horrified that I hadn’t got shoes or anything for my hair yet 🙂 so now I have two different types of flower and some sparkly hair clips to choose from, although I still haven’t quite decided which ones to go for so if it gets agonising I might post again for comments! Thanks 🙂

Just wanted to say that your dress looks great! Especially with the one shoulder and your short hair- your decolletage (or whatever) is rockin!

Firstly your dress is beautiful and you look amazing in it! And I love the shoulder strap! I think no necklace if you keep the strap. I think deffo get something for your hair I think you a lovely beeaded headpiece would be gorgeous x

No necklace- would compete too much with the neckline of your GORGEOUS dress. I think the shoulder strap makes the dress-would not remove it.
Maybe earrings? I agree to have something in your hair. I had a feather piece which attached with barettes- you could see a few whisps from the front. You could also do a bold cuff.

@spamjam: you aren’t alone – I don’t know what I’ll be wearing for our wedding next week yet, much less what accessories!
You got this – go for a statement arm band, a pretty hairpiece, or both. You’re so lovely, and you will glow!
i was serious that i don’t know about my dress – feel better now? :o)

@FoolsintheRain: Thank-you so much for your kind comments, made me feel so much better! I love my dress but it’s so not the sort of thing I would normally wear that I worry about whether people will think it looks OK.
@MissLittleChicken: Thanks! again it’s so lovely to hear, we’re having a small wedding and no bridesmaids and thing so haven’t had much input on the dress and things as I’ve been trying to keep things a surprise! So glad I posted on here to get some input from you lovely ladies!
@rebwana: Thanks 🙂 I think I agree no necklace, and think I will keep the strap as that is one of the things I liked about the dress that makes it a little bit different. I have some earrings that have an ivory pearl in that arrived yesterday, I bought them from Madeit in AUstralia, they’re so lovely and a bit unusual which suits me fine! I’ve tried to attach a picture below…
I also bought a fabric (kind of like tulle maybe) flower with some diamantes on that can clip into my hair, and also some smaller ivory roses on hair clips that I might use if I get freaked out by having a big flower sticking out of the side of my head! Planning to have a practice later to see what looks best…
@alasia: Oh dear, I do feel better that I’m not alone but sounds a bit scary to not know what you’re wearing! Thanks for your compliments and suggestions, seems everyone agrees on the something in the hair idea which is great
Where are you getting married? Do you need to have a formal dress or something a little more relaxed? I hope you manage to get something sorted, and good luck for your wedding
