So I saw this idea on etsy, but living in france, the shipping was just over the top! i’ve found this cage at one of my friend’s place. She gave it to me, it was rusty, muddy and down right dirty.
I sanded the wood and wire, washed the wood with warm water and a hard brush! and then, the magic began!
We have kind of a country vintage theme. And from the very beginning, i knew i wanted eggshell candles (we’re getting married in a renovated farm) so, i’ve first looked for white eggs (in france, most of, if not all, eggs are brown)when i’ve found some, i bought food coloring to dye my eggs the colors of the wedding, unfortunately, our colors are plum for the main color, and shades of purples and fushia. The food coloring gave me some great results in pinks but hardly any deep purple or plum! And i can’t remember how i’ve thought about it, but, i decided to use fabric dye! And bam! Perfect deep colors! I fell in love each time I took a new egg out! Anyway, that’s what i used to tint my wood. I used paint to paint the cage black and matte varnish on top of it! The satin finish of the paint was too glossy! Now it looks like graphite! I love it! For the flowers, i used some leftover petals from my diy pomanders!
Here are some pictures! I hope you’ll like it!
