So you think he overpaid but won’t take it to the jeweler that charged that rate to assess the value?  That doesn’t make much sense to me.

That said, Perfect Circle insurance.

soon2bhitched:  please stop and consider how this is going to make your fiancé feel, not to mention if they uphold him re the value, you might want to get it appraised by them.

Your post just comes off like he didn’t know what he was doing, and it sounds like he tried very hard to please you with a custom design.

For insurance purposes wouldn’t you WANT to go to the original jeweler?  You want it to be valued high to get the most $ for replacement.

The OP is correct. She should go to a third party location to have the ring appraised. The original place of purchase will only give an inflated value.

soon2bhitched:  Where ever you go, ask for a replacement value appraisal. Also, I have my ring insured through the same company as our auto and homeowners policies. I don’t have a rider, it is its own stand alone jewelery policy. I pay about $200 per year.

soon2bhitched:  yes, I would be very upset, but that doesn’t mean I would act on it.

so I was suggesting you be gentle about that, as in my experience men are very sensitive about the engagement ring. If you’re on the same page, that’s perfect.
