mildlybookish:  I could be really wrong but the way I read it was “older people” probably mean 40s or older. Which is true. A lot of older people use the internet to meet people now. I know some and it’s not uncommon. I don’t think she meant 20s and 30s at all.

I met my DH on OKCupid. I love online dating, it’s a great way to figure out if you actually might be compatible with someone before talking to them, instead of basing it just on looks, or hoping you meet someone you click with at work or randomly out and about! I have no shame.

Personally I prefer guys a little closer to my age (24, was 21 when I met DH), and I’ve noticed eHarmony tends to skew a little older, but it also has a lot less people looking just to hook up. But your age difference really doesn’t seem that significant to me.

My fiance and I met on match.com.  We never even discussed coming up with a “cover story” on how we met.  We have a lot of friends who met on dating sites that are now married.  You’ll be surprised when you tell people you met online how many will say they did too.  The stigma is definitely gone…my family encouraged me to try online dating because I wasn’t meeting anyone through other avenues.

I don’t think that age difference is bad.  Just do like you are doing – meet in a public place, have your own car, etc…  Good luck!

mandy102:  you just tell them. I think online dating is more acceptable now than it was before.  You hear about it a lot how people meet online. I think with e harmony it’s more reliable or credible as apposed to sites like POF or any other site because you pay for it. I mean it doesn’t make it any safer than other sites but serious people will tend to pay for a site because they know other people really want to date.  With other sites that are free and now apps people just want to hook up. So don’t be embarrassed or ashamed if you found someone you connect with. Everyone finds love differently.

arosebyanyothername:  i have a few friends like this. I met a guy and he introduced me to his friend at the gym and now she is my Bridesmaid or Best Man lol. I love that girl to death. Also my friend met a guy online who lives in Cali. She had hung out with him a few times in cali and i met him in Vegas but we are all friends now. he comes down to visit and we go over to cali. It’s  a lot of fun and i am glad that we all met thanks to the Internet.
