I too will be doing a similar center piece and will be using silk flowers. Nothing replces the real deal but I just can’t spend that much on flowers.

piper628 :  I don’t know where you live, but here that many orchid stems would cost a pretty penny.

Using lots of greenery and just a few flowers helps to cut costs

if you really want orchids, you can use less and add grasses for a sleek look

this one is a bit busy for me, but white poinsettias are fairly reasonably priced and have large flowers

add some branches to a few poinsettia flowers

Eiffel towers are cheap on LA crafts and shipping didn’t kill me either

A few hydrangea would be nice. I’m doing afew peonies but I’m getting them at 3.75 a flower which is crazy cheap for peonies

I ordered from several places. If you do DIY, message me and I’m happy to pass along where I ordered (I ordered from a combination of Sam’s, Fifty Flowers, and Blooms by the box). I can pass along tips to keep you hydrangeas alive, too. (FWW- I didn’t use the eiffel tower type vases as I didn’t want to have to worry about them tipping. Other Bees have used stone, crystals, etc. in the bottom to weight them down to reduce this concern).

piper628 :  my peonies are 175 for 50 in April from 48 flowers. Sf flower market is drivable but they’re usually 4 a stem there and this will be easier
