Terrible pic so apologies but that is a modern 8 prong basket setting. That ring is not mine, just one I tried on but I am having the same setting made at the minute for my moissy.

Mine is not an antique and has 8. Im glad. Don’t want yo lose it.

Kinda funny. I have a heirloom sapphire and diamond ring that’s very old and it has 8 possibly 9 prongs for the center. It’s hard to tell because the setting was very warped. I was given it that way when I was a smal child. I plan to restore it hopefully next year or the following once we’re done with all our wedding things.

I never paid attention to the number of prongs in relation to older sapphire rings but I see it now.

roseyflowercup :  thanks!!! Mines a 2.50 center diamond with 1.75 pave diamonds surrounding it. I love love it.
