saritacg7: My commute to work is pretty brutal too…. I live in Santa Clarita and I work in Downtown LA. 44 miles each way and a lot of the time, I’m stuck in pretty good traffic (which living in Santa Monica I’m sure you get to experiene, often haha).
I ordered my Tesla Model S yesterday. I finally made up my mind and went for it. Unfortunately I found out that the Model 3 I reserved is not big enough for car seats so I will be backing out of that reservation.
I’m glad to hear that Santa Monica gives so many perks to EV owners. I already knew about the Carpool Lane which I’m going to take full advantage of!
I did some research and already figured out what to instal in the garage for charging and whatnot. I also already looked into adding all those Apps to my iphone. Fortunately the charge on the Tesla is fantastic and I won’t be needing to charge outside unless I’m going to long trips.
Haha that tax break is going to come in handy next year! Apparently it is running out so I’m glad I got the car when I did because I can still benefit from it. Once the Model 3 comes out….. it will most likely be gone already. I am registering the vehicle only to myself since my income in less than my husband’s. This way we don’t take any chances on not getting the tax credit for having too much income.
Is your husband’s car only electric? Or does it have both? What’s the mileage range on it? I am fascinated by electric vehicles. I hope this is the start of something big. We all need to start taking better care of this amazing world we live in.
My better half is already considering the Tesla Model X as his next car. He just bought an Escalade though so who knows when that’ll be haha. But that’s a step towards the right direction I guess. He was totally against getting an electric vehicle. Then he test drove my soon to be car and he walked away with an even bigger smile than mine haha.
cclove: I did it!!!! Tessie is coming home by the end of July!!!! I got the Model S 70!!! YAY!!!!! Thank you for all the advice! It really helped!!!!

I bought a 2015 Fusion Energi back in February and I’m obsessed with it. It’s the best of both worlds. Electric & Gas. It doesn’t have a long range battery but my work is only 5 miles away. It’s about 25 miles/ charge then switches to hybrid mode. Since February I’ve only filled up once and it’s my daily driver. Sadly my city isn’t very E Car friendly, so there aren’t plugs at the mall or anything 🙁 But it’s definitely fun to drive! Even my F250 Diesel driving husband likes it!
Congrats on the Tesla!

MrsPiggles: Congratulations the Tesla S is stunning, good choice. Yeah the VW e-golf is 100% electric it gets 126 miles per charge. My husband wanted something quite small cause he always had big cars, we even checked out the fiat electric but he is 6’2 so that didn’t work out lol.
There are a few hydrogen SUV’s coming out as well in a few years, if your husband likes big cars. I’m considering one of those when the family grows, but right now I have my eyes on a beautiful Italian.
rubyrane: My hubby has a F250 Diesel too, I love driving that monster!!

saritacg7: Really? I hate driving it, I feel like I’m about to run someone over every minute. Lol He’s been trying to get me to drive it while towing a 14ft trailer I keep telling him he doesn’t care for other peoples’ safety. Lol
I prefer to ride shotgun. I call it my “Chariot”
I’m so jealous of the E VW, I had a CC before my Fusion and I was obsessed with it. They don’t offer them in Texas though :/ Darling Husband has worked for VW before and I asked him why I’ve never seen one.

rubyrane: That’s funny, it was an adjustment but after awhile it was quite natural you just need to get used to it. Ours is bit lifted and has a the long bed and one time I had to parallel park it in downtown L.A., I was sweating bullets it was so intense. But I pulled it off in 4 maneuvers, I was pretty proud of myself lol
Yeah the VW Egolf is only in a few states right now lucky Cali was first because like you again I also had the CC 2011 and was in love with it! I traded it a few years ago but I think I’m going to get it again because I miss it.

My husband has a volt that he loves though I’d love to get a tesla in the future. We had a charging station installed at my house. I think at the time there was a full rebate courtesy of a government program. I’m not sure if that is still the case. You can also just plug it into a regular outlet but it takes a lot longer to charge.
