I would run from any dietician who suggested eating processed foods…especially “sugar free” junk food. You should definitely talk to a medical doctor if you have concerns that there may be a medical issue underlying your weight gain.

How is your portion control? It’s actually pretty easy to gain weight eating “healthy foods” if you are eating to excess.

So you work out only 2 times a week? Do you count calories at all? Yes, eating more “good, cooked at home food” is worse than small portions of “cruddy” food. In the sense that calories are calories more or less. If you’re gaining weight, you are consuming more calories than you’re burning.

You can prepare your own foods, you just have to be mindful of what you’re cooking, and how much of it you’re eating. you have to find that balance of things you like, and portion control. You have to create that calorie deficit to see weight loss. Excercising more than twice a week would be a great start. I would aim for at least every other day, but if you could get in 30 min a day, that would be better.
