- Wedding: March 2011
I have a question for you all. I am looking to get married this March and am having the hardest time finding a venue that is both esthetically pleasing and affordable. I am a wedding planner who has worked with clients that do not have the same budgetary constraints as me.
Originally, my fiance and I were going to do a really elegant dinner in the ballroom of our condo complex. It would have consisted of our immediate families (22 pple) and just be an evening of dinner and drinks. I come from a huge extended family, however. My parents threatened to not come to the tiny wedding I was about to pay for myself without having all of my cousins, aunts, uncles, their significant others and kids invited.
The tiny wedding was totally affordable and the ballroom we were going to have it in was gorgeous!
I caved and am letting my parents invite the whole universe, because these people would never speak to me or them again.
So I went to discuss options with venues this weekend. However, even off-season, the nicer or even mediocre places are ridiculously expensive! I left feeling deflated. Both of my parents lost their jobs within the past year. They want to have a large wedding but cannot afford to spend $30+ K. Neither can I! I have to be smart with my money, but any wedding I have will need to be beautiful – for both my professional reputation and because who does not want that?!
So we are considering an Elks club for our winter wedding. My question to you all is whether any of you have had a wedding at an Elks Club and what you have done to beautify it. I was planning on getting my contacts in lighting and rentals to spruce up the place with ballroom chairs, specialty linens, flowers and beautiful hanging candlelight. Despite my ideas, I am having the darndest time finding photos of a beautiful Elks club wedding. Are they out there? Do you happen to have any? Thank you so much, in advance!!
