- Wedding: September 2012
Bees, I need a bit or moral support on this. I am a horrible decision maker and just like to be reassured on some of my decisions.
I think my fiance and I are going to have a really small ceremony with my dad and his mom and 4 of our closest friends. This decision came about after we had put a deposit on our venue and dj for next may. We want to buy a house and have a wedding reception BBQ in the back yard of our new home. Why you may ask?
Neither my fiance or I get along with our mothers and both of our sisters are incredibly selfish people. Mine doesnt even want to be in my wedding. My mother has already made it known she will not be financially contributing to the wedding and my dad is giving us some money but we would have still have had to save around 6-8 K. with wanting to buy a house I cant justify spending 16+ on a wedding for ONE day, not even its what 5 hours?!
My mother and I have always had a strained relationship. I highly doubt she will give me an entire day for my wedding without being awful. She made me cry at my college graduation because I was tlaking to my dads families side of the table too much and left lunch. If she cant handle a 2 hour lunch to celebrate me getting my B.S. what makes me thinl she will be able to get through an entire wedding?! My gram (moms mom) I would love for her to come to my secret affair but shes got a big mouth, so the new plan is to elope with my dad (to walk me down) and a few of our close friends and send an invite to a backyard reception and just go all out with comfort foods and a big bar and dancing and possibly cornhole/ yard games in the back. We can always rent a tent or heating/ cooling stuff. I can still wear a pretty dress to elope in and have a fun cotton dress with my wedding sash for the backyard reception.
we can still have the traditional father daughter dance, little favors, and tossing of the bouquet at our backyard reception right?
and we would be able to get married this year instead of next! We already canceled our venue. Does anyone else think this is crazy or are we actually on to something?!
