Have any of you ladies eloped or planning to elope? My fiance and I are doing a simple beach ceremony while standing in the surf in October. It’ll be just us but I have a dress and a veil and flowers so it is technically a ceremony. For those of you that have, what did you do? Do you go to dinner afterwards? Did you have a cake?

I didn’t elope, but I’m pretty sure you can do the “reception” however you want. You can wait and have a full blown party, a simply BBQ for some close friends and family, dinner with the rents, or even just buy a heart shaped cookie for you and your love. So what I am saying is that if you want to have a nice dinner to celebrate and also buy a nice cake, you are certainly welcome to, and I hardly think anyone would begrudge you that. Good luck!

We’re doing that too in either Mexico or Cuba. With photography of course.
If it’s at the resort we’ll probably just spend the rest of the day doing what we usually do as there is little to do outside it.
I’ve got a dress, veil, real touch flower bouquet and some decor ideas, the tuxedo and all.
Still trying to come up with ideas to spruce up the day.

@tiny tuna: Well we’re thinking of getting married in the late afternoon on the beach, taking pictures for about an hour, and then going to a restaurant for dinner ( still in the dress of course 🙂 and then coming back to the hotel to wind down and have our wedding night

I would be too afraid to eat in my dress honestly, so I’m thinking of taking another dress that is cute and fun (no train or anything) that I can change into for a dinner (I’ll probably book an interesting restaurant that night)

We eloped, but we didn’t have a ceremony. I made my own bouquet, we both wore special (but casual) clothes, I wore a veil, and we went out to a really nice dinner (we budgeted $300 for just us two). We got a really nice bottle of champagne.
We didn’t get our pictures taken, and in the middle of the day we spent the day doing paperwork. *yay*
But the dinner was very special.

We are eloping in July! We are doing something similar to you in regards of the dress, veil etc. We are getting married in the morning say 11am then photos throughout the day (we are having a winter wedding in the snow so we need the midday sun to warm us up). The we will go to our hotel and get changed and unwinde then that night we will go out to dinner.
