We got married in Santorini Greece and then had an at-home-reception. I’ve already posted receps of our wedding ceremony and reception, but we did a couple of unique things I’d love to share with you all, hoping to help other brides out there planning. I know i stole quite a few of my ideas from weddingbee, just passing on the love 🙂
The getting married part was easy. We were already mid-way through planning our european holiday, when we decided we would tie the knot while we were there. All we had to do was pick the accommodation and they referred us to a wedding planner who did an amazing job at coordinating our dream wedding.

We had planned on a quiet at-home lunch to celebrate our nuptials, but we were convinced by our family that we needed a dancefloor and a big party. So that is where our reception planning started coming together. Here are a few of the reception details:
Our wedding terrace in Greece was all white, so we chose to decorate in all white as well. We had some signature cocktails for people to drink upon arrival to the restaurant. White Russians. They were delicious!
We had had a table at our reception with a bunch of our wedding photos from Greece in white frames, with a little sign instructing our loved ones to take one home at the end of the night to add to their family photo collection
We had a cake display table instead of a tiered cake, and they had little signs. We had a ‘lets get loose mousse cake’ a ‘don’t be a stick in the mud cake’ a ‘say cheese cake’ and a ‘strut your stuff strawberry sponge’
For our ‘wedding cake’, we had a cute cake topper that we bought off ebay. I changed the tag to say Santorini 🙂 not really fantastically unique, but my mum was impressed LOL
We also brought some takeaway containers for our cakes, you know, because we had FIVE! I went to a friends wedding where everyone was too full/drunk to eat the cake and it was such a shame to waste. I had a feeling ours wouldn’t get eaten on the night because we had SO much food. I was right. most people left with a bonbonierre and a cake container
Speaking of bonbonierres, we kinda ‘matched’ our cards box to our bonbonierres by puchasing an oversized clear box and attaching a white ribbon. We also gave our dads scotch instead of chocolates, which we also kinda ‘matched’
We did a jive as our wedding dance. It was much more ‘us’ and we totally pulled it off 🙂 it was FUN FUN FUN

Well, that’s most of our unique wedding ideas that I can think of right now.
Did you do get to do any fun ‘out-of-the-box’ ideas for your wedding, or did you decide to go the by-the-book traditional route ?
