I saw this Lake Placid Lodge one mentioned several times.

Elopements and Petite Weddings

$500 starting package + room

I would check out Lake Placid, Lake George, etc, using the TripAdvisor link below, then go to B&B or Romantic hotels.  Then research the highly rated places to see if they do weddings.

others you can research:
White Face Lodge
(you’ll have to inquire about packages)

Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa
(you’ll have to inquire about packages)

Crest Haven Lake George

Here’s a real Lake Placid Lodge elopement:

And this site mentions a real splurge of an elopement package at Lake Placid including a private cruise and a private dinner!

Available for $3,999, the Elopement Experience includes: Three nights in a Lodge King room, upgrade if available • Made-to-order breakfast daily • Chilled champagne upon arrival • Fresh in-room flowers • Luxurious, monogrammed robes • Couple’s in-room massage • Ceremony flowers including bride’s bouquet and groom’s boutonniere • Private, post-ceremony custom-built Hacker-Craft Champagne Cruise on Lake Placid • Private dinner with personalized menu by executive chef, Kevin McCarthy and sommelier paired wines • Wedding cake for two • Full breakfast daily • Afternoon tea daily • All inclusive onsite seasonal activities.

ETA:  Oops, I just saw that this place is mostly adults only except for special weekends where they allow kids.

  • Wedding: September 2013 - Lake Taghkanic State Park

I’m having my wedding at Lake Taghkanic State Park in Ancram in September. It’s not an elopement, it’s going to be a pretty average sized wedding but we are having an early ceremony and a late lunch reception! Both at the park. It was only a $150 activity fee to use the park for the day, we just have to do all the legwork ourselves (catering, tent rentals, generators for electricity, etc). But Upstate NY has a TON of beautiful state parks, if you want something casual it might be worth looking into. 🙂
