by “chapel on the strip” are you referring to the cheesy ones like graceland chapel? or do you mean any chapel, no matter what?

I have seen some of the chapels that are in the newer, really fancy hotels (such as the Wynn), and they were super gorgeous. once the doors are shut, I don’t think you would ever know you were in vegas.

@theseautumneyes:  Thats a little rude to call someone else’s idea of a wedding not classy!

What about one of the golf courses or Mr Charleston? Or even Lake Las Vegas or Lake Mead?

@theseautumneyes:  well anyway, have a look at some of the really fancy hotels on the strip. like I said, the Wynn, etc.  their chapels are stunning. however, I’m sure they are quite spendy.

I remember walking by the one in Mandalay Bay, and it was beautiful.

@j_jaye:  I think it’s ok to say that a wedding at a chapel that is next to adult stores and  involves Elvis is not classy. my original (secret) wedding was at graceland chapel, and Elvis walked me down the aisle. we specifically chose this place because we wanted to have fun with it. we absolutely loved our campy wedding.

I think that people going for places like Graceland chapel know what they are getting into and choose places like this for the kitch factor.

Ravella has a beautiful chapel.  We’re getting married at Sam’s Town at their indoor park.  I think either of those would be great options!

@janie-janie:  That is really rude. Classy people don’t degrade others and their ideas or judge. Hiring out the waldof astoria ballroom and throwing a million dollar wedding doesn’t suddenly make an unclassy person classy! What you said could shame and upset people who are trying to have a wedding that they can afford and enjoy.

Just because you don’t like that sort of wedding is just your preference. Some of the major strip hotels have risque shows and nightclubs in them or suites where god knows what goes on- does that automatically make them not classy? Everybody has different ideas what they would like in a wedding. People get maried everyday in lower-socio-economic areas (with high crime rates, adult stores, drug dens) does that automatically make those not classy weddings due to locale?

@j_jaye:  um, did you not read this thread? I said that I actually got married at graceland chapel and I loved it. I never said I dislike any of the chapels– no matter what their location is.

@theseautumneyes:  sorry for the threadjacking. I wish you the best with your venue search!

@janie-janie:  It doesn’t matter what else you said you said that those chapels and elvis weddings are not classy. Just because you chose to marry like that does not give you extra rights to call other peoples weddings not classy!

I’m planning on having my wedding in a las vegas chapel.  i found two downtown about a block from the marriage license bureau, one is vegas weddings and the other chapelle de lamour. They are both nice and totally different from each other.  They are in a good location and not by any pawnshows, drug stores or adult shops.  They seem like they will be affordable.
