    When I say joining of famiies, I’m not just referring to the two sets of parents but your relationship now and in the to your  future in-laws and your FI’s  to your parents.

    @plainjane115:

    You specifically said that you “liked the idea of marrying on a weekday to save money” in your first post. Smile

    There is nothing wrong with wanting to save money as weddings are very expensive. I just gave the example of my cousin’s wedding, because I wanted to illustrate that sometimes cost cutting measures can be hard on guests in different ways.

    There is nothing wrong with being observant of your faith. I just don’t understand why you would post as though religion is your only reason for wanting to marrying on a weekday. I know an old friend who is marrying this Friday because it is cheaper. No biggie.

    It is YOUR day. Do what will make you and your husband happy, but also something that will not leave you with any sad “what if” misgivings. People think eloping will avoid family drama, but they often don’t realize how offended family members are after the elopement.

    @PlainJane You can elope and then at your family party later you can still have that dance with your father. For inspiration for a romantic just-the-two-of-you elopement watch this picnic elopement here http://vimeo.com/28170549
