Hi ladies! I’m struggling a bit to plan this “”elopement” ceremony! We’re putting together a trip to Colorado to get married in June. I’ve found two places I really would like to get photos at! These places are three hours apart. I’ve booked a sunrise shoot in Rocky Mountain state park. I’m not allowed to have a ceremony there though. I’m debating if I should go out of the park somewhere to do a ceremony that day or if I should wait the next day to have the vow ceremony, in wedding attire, at Garden of the Gods. Or I can do it all day one and then just have family shoot, in street clothes, with my new husband and our children. I won’t be able to get the marriage license until day 2. Fiancé isn’t much help. He likes the first location, as do I, do that’s a definite for pictures in our wedding attire. But after that he just wants the cheapest possible. So I’ve been struggling with these details on my own. Last night he saw I was overwhelmed and tried to help but it still came to a “whatever you want to do” and I’m so indecisive, i don’t know what I want to do! Opinions?

I’m surprised you can’t do your vows there. I thought you could self officiate without a witness in Colorado?

We can self officiate there, but RMNP has certain places that you can hold your vow ceremony at, no matter how long I guess. Dream lake, where we are going, is not one of them. You also have to get a permit to do it and fiancé does not want to.

What is most important to you? I also struggled with the timeline until I realized with eloping there are no rules so just choose whichever feels right in your heart. Trust me my timeline doesn’t “make sense” but it makes me happy and meets all our needs. That’s what matters, don’t stress too much, I did and I wish I had just realised at the end of the day getting married and having beautiful memories is what matters. The memories will be beautiful regardless of the timeline. For me photos are a top priority, that’s how I planned our timeline. Find what matters most to you 🙂 it’ll work out. Big hugs.

I feel your pain I planned to elope somewhere beautiful not too far but fiancé shot me down so I told him “I have planned two weddings so it’s your turn to come up with something now”. Now he wants to wait a few months so I don’t even know if we are going to get married in 2020 it’s all so frustrating. As a side note I used to live in Colorado Springs and G of the G is beautiful especially at sunset.
