simplebee92 :  I’m doing a courthouse wedding w/ 14 guests followed by reception with about 65 guests, give or take. This is still costing us close to $10K, I would LOVE to get married at the beach and be able to host a reception with 55 people for $1500. I think that sounds amazing and you guys are being smart financially.

My wedding is in August so I can’t offer any pro’s/con’s/regrets (hopefully there are no regrets) but I think what you have in mind sounds great and in line with what you both want. Congrats.

Your wedding plan sounds awesome. We also had a small 35-guest wedding, simply because we have small families. For me, celebrating with family and friends was a huge plus, I don’t think I’d want to elope unless our close family members sucked and we didn’t want them at our wedding. But I also like to be the center of attention, and don’t mind saying no to people’s wedding opinions – I think some people elope to avoid those things.

Congratulations on your almost-engagement! My partner and I are getting married in a couple of months in a very low-key ceremony. We’re going down to the registry office with our two best friends as witnesses and then going for dinner at a restaurant afterwards. The approach we took was to keep everything as simple as possible, but picking a couple of traditional elements that we thought were important. So for example, our outfits weren’t expensive at all and our honeymoon is a few nights in London, but we splurged on the rings and we’re still getting professional photos.

My Fiance and I are planning an intimate ceremony (about 25 people) in my mother’s living room followed by a plated dinner in the private dining room at one of our favorite restaurants! For the dinner, we will get closer to 40 because we are inviting some more friends and anyone who is hosting a party for us.

The best part-my Godmother and parents’ friends are hosting a 175 guest celebration for us a couple months after our wedding! I am not into planning a large party like this (it stresses me out!) so all I have to do is make a guest list and show up. Perfect!
