We’ve been engaged for a little over a month and our wedding date isn’t until next December. It seems like everyone in Seattle is getting married next month, which is wonderful, but all the indoor venues that are in line with our budget and “the vision” are pretty much booked into mid-december of next year :(or there are openings really early next year. This is why I started searching for a venue so soon, and hoping to put a deposit down on the actual ceremony and reception location…Now I’m thinking about just eloping in Colorado next December 🙂 There will be plenty of snow, we can stay in and snuggle and we’d pretty much be on a honeymoon…has anyone else ever done this? did you sort of regret not having family and friends around for the day you became the mrs to his mr?

A lot of bees have eloped and loved it! It totally depends on you two and your vision for your wedding. I think there might be an eloping section somewhere on the bee where you can read stories etc. of other bees with similar experiences. Good luck!

@Shewillbeloved: I haven’t eloped yet, but my Fiance are planning on it this December. We started off by planning a bigger wedding, and I just hated all the stress, pressure, and money it cost. Now that we’re planning to elope, I do not miss the wedding planning at all! I hope in the end I am glad we went the elopement route. I think I will be. What’s better than snuggling for days with your new spouse and starting your married life together in peace, quiet, and cozy, intimate time alone? 🙂

I can picture your elopement wedding pictures outside in the snow in Colorado – how beautiful would that be?!
I eloped. I loved that nobody knew, and loved the shock they got when we told them after.
Like a PP said, it all depends on your vision.

Maybe this lovely Colorado winter elopement will swoon you?
Winter Colorado Elopement
I actually contacted the planner once to see how much this little wedding costs to have someone put together. She told me $1500, but you certainly could pull it all together yoursevles for cheaper.
We are glad you liked the elopement we planned. It was such a beautiful day with such a fun and cute couple. Anyway, to answer your questions, that couple went with our elopement package ($1500), which included:
(1) Bridal Bouquet (up to $100)
(1) Boutonniere (up to $25)
(1) Officiate (up to $150)
(10) Hours of Pre-Planning and an on-site coordinator for the day of the wedding
The couple was in NYC and we are in Colorado, so we did the planning remotely. But where they got married was a little over an hour from out offices, so I was with them the day of.

@sienna76: I’ve seen that one and yes, how gorgeous is that! I think those photos would be enough to convince anyone. 😉
