- Wedding: July 2013
Hi all, I’m fairly new to the bee hive, but so far have found all the different topics discussed really helpful. So I had a question and thought I would share.
My fiance and I have just gotten engaged and we have started wedding plans. Long story short, neither of us are really into the big white wedding and even keeping things small and intimate was more money than we wanted to spend just for a ceremony and reception. Then we starting talking about what else we could do with that sort of money and. We decided that what we both love is travelling, and so we would prefer to spend our money on one whirwind trip around the world! And my family fully support this idea and want to contribute. So, the only question that remains is where and how we actually do the wedding ceremony.
We are based in Australia, although both of our families are overseas, so we don’t have many people here where we live that we would necessarily want at our wedding. With Air New Zealand, we can book round the world tickets and they fly to Tahiti so we started talking about beach weddings in Bora Bora (always a dream of mine). The other option is fly the other way around the world to Paris for a quickie ceremony and go from there. In both cases we will be travelling around Europe and visiting both of our families for small “celebrations”. Personally I am leaning towards beach wedding but I want to consider all the options still.
So, put it out to you ladies (or gentlemen, as the case may be) – does anybody have any experience with weddings in Tahiti/Bora Bora? Has anybody eloped or know people who have done it? Any tips or stories would be much appreciated.
