We are eloping in 10 days at a Wedding Chapel with just 6 guests, and having an informal get together at my brother’s bar/lounge for around 40 people a couple hours after the elopement. We just want to laugh, listen to some music, act silly, and have a good time!! A BBQ sounds great, and alot of fun!! I’m sure your close friends, and family would love to celebrate the two of you!! Go for it! Congratulations!!

We did the intimate elopement wedding last week, and we’re having a big party to celebrate with everyone next month. I dont see a problem with that. It’s just some good music, good wine and food, and good friends and family.

We eloped in Paris just the 2 of us and had a get together at a local pub a month later. I didn’t wear a dress it was very laid back. My Dad picked up the tab but DH and I had planned to. I got some sweet cards and dish towels.

i say yes to the BBQ! i don’t think it’s tacky at all. i don’t think you need a formal reception. any get together to celebrate your union is good in my opinion. and tbh a bbq sounds fun and delicious! 🙂

That’s what we are planning to do!  We finally decided to do a private ceremony with just us 2 and have a big bbq about a month later at our home for everyone.  We’ll still have music and cake, but it will be casual and alot of fun. So yeah, I don’t think it’s tacky at all!

soontobemrsmally :  sounds like fun! I’m eloping w no guests. We aren’t going to have a party or anything bc I don’t like party planning. But it sounds like the BBQ idea will be fun and low stress!

We arent eloping… but are only having 4 guests at the ceremony. We have a casual BBQ planned for a week after to celebrate. Those who love farther away arent able to make it, but were invited anyways. We made sure everyone knew it was a really low key event and we dont expect everyone to make it.

I say there is no such thing as tacky when you are celebrating love! Go for it and have fun!

That is what we plan to do. We are going to fly to Italy and have a ceremony just the two of us. Then sometime after we get back we will throw a party. It won’t be a typical reception. I will not wear my dress. We will not have a first dance or any of that. But there will be food, alcohol, music playing on a speaker from the phone and all of our loved ones. I will have a video of the ceremony ready in case anyone wants to watch and I will have the wedding album out incase any one wants to look at pics from that day.

That’s what we did and we were really happy with our decision. Spent about $1500  total

This is what we’re doing!  We are having an intimate immediate family + two best friends only ceremony on a Friday afternoon followed by a nice dinner and the parents are throwing us a casual outdoor “after the wedding” party the next evening.  I’m glad to see more people are doing this.  Neither of us wanted a really long engagement or a huge wedding (the stress or the costs!).  This plan is much more our style. 🙂
