@BekahBuckeye:  How early are you talking because for make up, I’d say skip hiring an artist and go to the NARS on bleeker. They do fantastic make up for free, you can buy what you wish and they don’t pressure you at all.

I had my whole face done for my friend’s wedding and walked out of there with a blue eyeliner because I wanted it for touch ups through out the night.

Congrats. My florist, Flowers by Richard handles smaller weddings and is nice and reasonable for NYC. I used Margie Bresciani for hair and make up. She will come to your hotel room and just do the bride, but she’s still not cheap. I think $300. She did a great job though and both are reviewed on weddingwire

Good luck

Dont use VickyC5

This vendor is not who they appear to be.  They lure you in with promotions and discounts.  After you sign and you have an issue, they never call you back and worse yet, they will charge you additional.

It does not matter what is in the contract – they do their own thing and the customer service is the last time on their mind.  Also THEY ASK FOR THE BALANCE 10 DAYS BEFORE YOUR WEDDING!

After doing some research, this did cause a lot of stress for many brides in NYC.  They will hold your wedding hostage if you book with these people.

Here’s my chaotic story:

I signed up for their $1000 make up and hair promotion which included travel costs.  I met with Joann who a friend of a friend recommended.  As an Asian bride, it is very hard to find make up and hair people for your wedding.  All the top make and hair people were booked and I should have followed my gut when Joann and her team were pressuring me about this promotion expiring.

Against all logic, I succumbed to pressure.  I gave them $300 as a deposit.  However, if you do your research most HONEST vendor only want $100 to save the date.  During my conversation with Joann, I pointed out my venue was in the Bronx and she understand that I was waiting to hear back from my venue on availability for prep.  There was no additional charge or any mention that the Bronx is an issue.  This is all in the contract!!

After a few weeks, my venue told me I would not be able to use their space to prep at the time I requested.  I wrote back to VickyC5 and changed the location to a Manhattan location.  This was all through email – which should be a warning.

Here’s the rub, my venue got back to me and said I could use the location.  I mentioned to VickyC5 that I wanted to change the time slight and now go back to the original location.  Enter Michael our rude, dramatic customer representative.  He did not want to hear me out and actually had the audacity to question how ridiculous I was to assume VickyC5 would travel to the Bronx for FREE!!!  As unprofessional as Michael can be, he said he never dealt with such a dramatic bride and said he cant promise to call me back!  CANT PROMISE TO CALL ME BACK!  In this situation, they had the upper hand, I was out $300 and two months before my wedding — no one at VickyC5 cared enough to work with me

They just want your cash!

After a day, I got an email from Michael, stating all the additional charges requirements and 20% demanded gratitude necessary to make my wedding day happen.  My wedding was held hostage !

Second the Nars comment -I did my engagement makeup there and they were really good. You can also go to Drybar for a $40 blowout for hair which I think is pretty reasonable.
