    I’ve done it  both ways!

Had a traditional wedding with 1st husband. It was nice, I really liked it. But just eloped with 2nd husband and THAT TOTALLY ROCKED!! I would soooo elope again! And when  I say we eloped, I mean we eloped – no witnesses (not needed in TX) and no guests. It was so relaxing and stress free and lovely and romantic! And since nobody knew we were doing it, we were SOOOO giddy afterward with excitement!

@letterlove:  What did you and your Fiance decide on? Your wedidng date is in less than two months so I am curious. We just cancelled our big wedding a few days ago and went back to our plan to elope. The financial stress of everyone travling was getting to us. We are however, having a big wedding next year on our one year anniversary with our family and friends. Everyone just thinks we are taking a pre-honeymoon. We will tell them the wonderful news when we return.

Not one single regret for eloping. Not one. At the time I regretted not getting my vows videotaped. 6 months later and I couldn’t care less. I have 800+ amazing photos and a memory to last a lifetime. I’ve been to other weddings and ours was the best. Our reception was the best. Our ceremony was the best. We made the best decision ever.

What about an option for an INTIMATE wedding, in which you have a low-key ceremony and reception with only your immediate family and closest friends? Still a wedding, but not a big grand affair with tons of people — just those who are truly close to you.

We seriously considered eloping and walked the should-we-or-shouldn’t-we fence for a long time actually. But what stopped us is that we have some really amazing family and friends-that-are-family who are so supportive of our relationship… and I didn’t want to miss the once-in-a-lifetime moments with my parents on my wedding day (getting ready with my mom; my dad walking me down the aisle; stuff like that).

So we settled on a very small wedding that skips a lot of traditional wedding stuff, and only invited 28 people.

I’m doing an “elopement” with 15 family members. Although i love weddings i know i could not handle a big wedding myself due to my social anxiety. Everytime i’d start looking up wedding planning and who to invite my stomach would get into knots and my face was turning red. I knew if i was getting this nervous and getting physical reactions just thinking about having 50 guests there it was not a good idea to continue with the wedding plans. But at the same time its very important for us to have our immediate family there, especially my parents as i’m their only child. I wouldn’t not invite them. I don’t think i’ll regret it. I’ve seen friends spend an entire year and spend thousands on a wedding for just 1 day. Isn’t worth it to me. I’ll save money and all the drama that comes along with planning a wedding. The people we’ve invited are only our immediate family so for the most part i’m comfortable around everyone we’ve invited.
