nikkibollinger :  If you are looking for fun and upbeat I would not suggest a Sandals.. it’s an adult only resort catered to honeymoons/trips for more older and established couples as the prices are usually quite a bit higher.

Ive never been to one myself but my best friend went to St.Lucia one and said she will never do it again.. she said its alot older people… quiter vibe and not really worth the extra money at all.

I am sure people have had all sorts of experiences but this what I know

    Good luck!

We went to the Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau Bahamas in May on vacation and it was awesome! They have their own private island, and we met lots of couples our age (late 20s-early 30s)!

Sandals Ochi is incredible! One of my best friends got married there last year, and my SO and I stayed for a week. The wedding and reception were beautiful. Outside of that, there is so much to do and see. Tons of restaurants and bars in the resort, several large pools, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking. There are live shows every night. The staff are super friendly and helpful. No kids (yay). It’s close to local attractions like Dunn’s River Falls. Three of the couples we went with booked for this upcoming fall before we even left the resort. We all ranged in age from mid 20s-late 30s and there were plenty of people there in our age group. My only complaint is that the water pressure in everyone’s rooms absolutely sucked, so we had to get into the habit of showering outside of “busy” times or we’d end up covered in soap with nothing but a drippy faucet.

It was seriously the best vacation I’ve ever taken.

Check out Secrets Resorts as well.  From a vacation standpoint, I’ve been to many Sandals and Secrets resorts and have found Secrets to be a bit nicer.

My first wedding was at Sandals Ocho Rios 6yrs ago & we loved it! The place seemed to be dead by 9:30/10pm…but most people start drinking at 10am and are in the sun all day so it wasn’t that big of a deal, by day 2 we were tired by then, too.

I frequent Jamaica and would not stay at a Sandals resort. Over priced and over hyped (IMO).

Look into Couples resorts Jamaica. They have 4 properties, 2 in Ochi and 2 in Negril. There food and service are hands down the best. We have visited Couples Tower Isle and Couples San Souci and loved them both. You can also have a day pass for free to visit the sister resort.Let me know of you have any questions.

I have not stayed at the Secrets resort in Mobay but have heard good things. The beach is located on a marine nature reserve with a lot of marine life. We stayed at a neighbouring resort and snorkeled all day!

nikkibollinger :  We went to Sandals in St Lucia for our honeymoon. I’m really surprised to hear another bee say that her friend saw only old people, because there were no old people at our resort other than a few that were there for their childrens wedding. A majority of the people we met were also there on their honeymoon, and were in their 20-30s. Overall, we enjoyed Sandals, and their service was great, but we probably won’t go with them again because they are pretty overpriced. We are going to try Iberostar or Secrets next time we want to go all inclusive.

Also, have you looked into the fine print of them giving you a “free” wedding with a 3 night stay? I’m pretty sure that requires you to have a minimum amount of guests that all stay for 3 nights minimum, and does not include the required reception. We asked about it on our honeymoon because we wished we would have just got married there, until we found out that there were a lot of extras you still had to pay for. They made it seem like you cannot bring in your own photographer, that you have to use theirs.. and their photo prices are ridiculous (though the photographer on our resort was honestly great) I will say that all of the people that worked on the resort were so nice and friendly, and they definitely would go out of their way to help you… but you pay for it. If the resort you are looking into is as nice as the one we stayed at, it will be a beautiful wedding no doubt, just don’t count on the “free” aspect.
