    No - it's bad etiquette

We did this, and I honestly thought it worked out great!  You’ll send out a formal invitation later, so I think this is a great way to communicate the save the dates! There are a lot of sites now that allow you to create a very nice looking save the date.  I say go for it – it really does save you a LOT of money!

its aww good idea i guess, however alot of my family doesnt have email, esp our grandparents. we ended up going with small magnets from magnet street. there were super cheap and we got to design them from scratch.

I did my argh first save the dates that way and no one – not even my prim and proper 73 year old mother did not like it.  Everyone thought it was great.

I was going to do another email but the vistaprint freebie sucked me in lol and got cute postcards

I think for invitations it would be wrong unless it was a very casual wedding but for STD it is fine and I come from a really uptight family.

I’d be worried about people who can read/send emails, but that’s basically the extent of what they can handle.  I’m thinking of some of my older relatives and how they struggle with technology, although they send and receive emails.  I’m wondering, for that population, what about the STD getting “lost”?  Probably not a huge issue, but it might be something to think about.

since we are sending out paper invites, i think email std’s will be sufficient.
