Regular bee gone anonymous.
Lately I’ve been having a little bit of a lady problem and I’m hoping maybe you guys can help? I’ve been having some vaginal burning
- not made worse during urination
- not made worse during intercourse/no vaginal dryness
- no vaginal discharge
- vagina has no abnormal odour but my underwear smell like Fritos (gross, I know)
- no itching, warts, noticeable problems
- Fiance and I have sex about 4 or 5 days a week, unprotected
- I have a cyst in my right ovary and my period starts tomorrow
I guess the obvious answer is to go to the doctor, but does anybody have an idea of what it could be?

@adoc86: Thank you for your reply.
I had one when Fiance and I first got together and the doctor told me it was probably because of the amount of sex we were having.
I don’t have the same symptoms as I did that time, but I guess it’s possible.

@Anonymoose1234: I’ve had a similar issue (it became prominent when I got pregnant). It turned out to be an allergy to semen. Do you think this could be causing it?
Note, it wouldn’t burn during sex, but it would start to burn afterwards.

@Anonymoose1234: I get them pretty easily if I hold my bladder too long. The only symptom I ever experience is burning and it doesn’t become better or worse during urination. I usually just buy over the counter medication for it and its gone in about a day. Maybe worth a shot while you’re waiting for your dr’s appt.

@adoc86: Oooh, maybe that could be it then. What OTC medication do you use?
@Lyndzo: Wow! I did NOT know you could be allergic to semen. I don’t think that’s likely to be the case because Fiance pulls out.

Is your Fiance experiencing any issues on his end? I’ve had a vag issue or two in my day, mostly from frolicking in unclean creeks, and usually if it’s some kind of infection then my Darling Husband will also suffer some issues. Weird-smelling underwear is a classic sign that something isn’t right in the balance of goo in the vj. If your Fiance is also having a problem, then you two should abstain from sex for a week or two (or use condoms) to let your bodies have a chance to sort it out without continually passing it back and forth to each other. Your period will also help flush out whatever’s going on in there. My doc always called that “pushing the reset button” on the ol’ vj. If it doesn’t improve after period week, definitely see the doc!

@Anonymoose1234: Good, a semen allergy sucks. Mine is a pregnancy one, I hate it lol
Another suggestion (I had this twice in the past) was tiny little tears called fissures, down near the lady parts. Usually you would feel the pain when you pee but sometimes you can just feel it when you are moving around. If you have a mirror with a good zoom you could inspect to see if maybe there’s a tiny tear.
(Sadly I’ve had too many vagina issues in the past lol)

@Anonymoose1234: Could it be your soap or body wash? Scented and antibacterial products can be very harsh on sensitive areas and reactions can develop spontaneously.

@iarebridezilla: Your response made me laugh. I explained to Fiance what was going on and he said nothing was wrong on his end. I told him my underoos were smelling like Fritos and his immediate reaction was to smell the dogs feet to know what I was talking about (our dogs feet smell like Doritos).
@Lyndzo: You and your poor lady parts!
@Ninteenthchance: The only reason I don’t think it’s yeast is there is no discharge or itching.

Where is the burning? Way up in there or on the external bits? Is it constant or intermittent? Any redness or swelling?
I would bet it’s a yeast infection. I’ve gotten those plenty of times and I never have any discharge with them.

I’ve used a couple of different kinds, but off the top of my head I remember Uristat working well. One time I had called my doctor’s office and they couldn’t fit me in so he suggested an OTC and said that if after 2 days all of the symptoms weren’t gone then to come in for a prescription. I’ve never had to go in, the OTC stuff has always worked for me. I think its like $7 at Walgreens.

@lampshade: Umm…I can’t really tell; I think it’s more like on the outside. Not INSIDE the vagina but inside the labia majora (in the slippery pink part). Sorry. That’s gross.
