Before my partner (21m) and I (18f) had sex yesterday, I was going to go down on him to make sure we didn’t struggle when he puts it in but I noticed that he smelled like corn chips (Fritos/Tortilla Chips) and a bit musty (he worked out earlier in the day) so I changed my mind because I was wet enough. After we finished I noticed that the smell had transferred to my vagina. I went to a consignment shop today and was trying on some pants when I noticed that the smell had gotten even stronger. I did not have to be sitting down to smell it. There’s no itching, burning, chunky discharge, etc. I have had more discharge recently (wetter than usual), I think this is due to me quitting my birth control (pills) several months ago. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you go to the doctor? Should I just wait it out and visit the doctor if the odor persists?

You should definitely go to a doctor. Did you take a shower?
ETA and in the future, if you won’t put it in your mouth, don’t put it in your body either. That is a sure way to get an infection or something worse.

Definitely go to the doctor’s if it was on him and it’s now on you.

^^ idk what she is talking about you can put it in your mouth and in your body no problem. At least in my experience. Otherwise oral sex would be unsafe on women and it isn’t and people wouldn’t use spit for lube in a pinch. The only thing you don’t want to do is go from anal to vaginal or oral without changing condoms or washing.
Not sure about the specific odor though. But my own personal smell changes depending on the time of month and level of activity. It varies from not noticeable at all to noticeable only when I undress or use the restroom but it doesn’t smell like corn chips but everyone is different. I think my smell reminds me of cooked noodles lmao which is also oddly specific but it’s not super pungent.
ETA: I would see a doctor if any other symptoms occur or the smell doesn’t go away. When we used condoms my vagina would always smell like latex for a few days even after washing so it might just be his funk which while kinda nasty probably isn’t dangerous.

^ That’s not what she meant. She said that if you are UNWILLING to put it in your mouth (because of odor or appearance or whatever), then you should not put it in your body, either. She was not saying that you cannot put it in your vagina after being in your mouth.

It’s not that unusual. Google “corn chip genital odor”.

I doubt that you would find it funny. Have a little empathy.

I haven’t taken a shower yet but I did wipe my vagina with a wet rag before I got dressed for the day. I have sensitive, dry skin and my doctor has instructed me to shower every other day. I still wash my “hot spots” (vagina, underarms, and butt) everyday though.

I would wait to see if it still smells even after a shower or if you develop other symptoms before you go to the doctor. There is a bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa that smells strongly of corn tortillas. It prefers moist areas and can sometimes be found on the armpits or genitals of healthy individuals, but since you may have exposed yourself to it, it may cause infection. Maybe eat some probiotics like yogurt to keep your normal flora in high numbers.

why did i actually just google those exact words. I need to spend more time working and less time doing this!
OP- I echo what others have said, talk to a doctor and maybe have them run some tests or at least get some answers as to what can cause that type of odor. Down-there problems are always the worrrrrrrrrst!

My dog smells like Fritos and the vet said it’s yeast….. so I’d be cautious!

I dated a guy once that smelled like urine. Seriously. It was gross. His room smelled like urine. When he would stay over at my house I would have to wash all the bedding the next day because it stunk. Needless to say, the relationship didn’t last.

Wash yourself ASAP and get some probiotics (acidophilus with the highest amount of active cells you can find).
