I am also doing this with an HP inkjet printer at home but I find that it only works on the metallic cardstock that I’m using for the invitations and enclosures. I was going to try to do my return address on the envelopes but the ink dries too fast on those.

What kind of paper are you using? I got metallic linen cardstock from papersource.

I got it to work with the highest quality print setting and super thick quality cardstock, so the ink didn’t soak in as much. Even still it didn’t look quite the same as regular embossing, a little more stippled maybe. But I was happy with it- no one’s going to notice that! I used clear powder.

I’m using the clear powder that says “Detail” It’s finer than the regular and I love the way my Save the Date cards came out. I’ve read that clear powder over colored ink works better but I haven’t tried colored powder. I am printing in brown and eggplant colored ink and the clear powder really makes the colors more vivid.

My printer has a setting that allows you to change how much ink is put into the paper.  Maybe try increasing that slightly if your printer has the option. I have an HP and here’s how I got to that part:

print setup –> properties –> advanced –>ink volume

Hi! I’ve already solve this problem, embossing with inkjet printer?  You can use any type of paper for as long as it is 230gsm or thicker.  I’ve been using this technique for more than 3 years… Im planning to sell this tutorial in ebay…
