hi im waiting for my EC so maybe i can share some of my experience with u. and below is the link to my stone (only):

http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/3-carat-emerald-cut-on-size-4-finger/

1. the two stones u talked about seem to have very different length-width ratio. have u asked ur partner what shape (more of a square or rectangle) of EC she prefers? also, do u know what setting ur going to get/she likes? im asking this because i personally think certain ratio looks better with certain setting.

2. u didn’t mention about the clarity of the two stones ur thinking about. because of the cut, EC diamonds show inclusions more easily. so u may want to consider the clarity of ur stone too.

3. im a size 4, so maybe the pictures in my post can’t really show u how the stone u pick will look on ur partner’s hand. but u can use the link below to get a better idea (i got it from another bee here, so thank her^^):

hope it helps. and plz don’t forget to come back to show us the beautiful ring on her beautiful hand later! 🙂

Just like PP said, these are two different shapes. You should make sure to get the shape and color (metal and diamond) that she likes best rather than a Carat weight.

About the Cts I think anywhere from 0.5-1.5 is perfect for daily wear on most any hand. Personally, I am not a fan of large cocktail-like e-rings because I’m pretty active and do a lot with my hands. I wouldnt want to have to remove my rings everytime I do something because they may get in the way or damaged.  Take that into consideration with the size too.

If you have more specs (pics too) on the diamonds you are considering we may be able to help you more.

manneedshelp:  Hi, I hope my EC 3-stone ring can help a little bit. Ring size 5. My center is an EC sapphire, weighs approx. 1.20-1.30ct (it’s from my mom), 2 sides are EC diamonds at .69ct and .71ct (roughly 6x4mm)

I think 1.00 to 1.25ct is a GREAT size for e-ring and everyday wear, it won’t look very big BUT certainly noticeable.

Best of luck to you!

The difference between 1 and 1.2 will be hardly noticeable so don’t sweat it being a big choice- both will look great Also, don’t spend on IF or D. VS or VVS is a glorious clarity and E or F will look just as white even with a step cut. Good way to save because the naked eye literally can’t see the difference. Don’t have pics for you but good job doing your research! If I were you Id go with a 1.2 E or F VVS2 or VS1. Make sure it has “excellent ” polish and symmetry.
