Hi there! this is my first post and I need some help.
my SO and I have been looking at rings and I am in love with emerald cuts diamonds. The issue I’m having is that there are not many places that carry this cut so I haven’t been able to try them on that much. :/ the biggest issue I’m having is this thing called length to width ratio..which apparently is very important because it determines how square or rectangular the diamond will be. (My personal preference is rectangular)
this is where you emerald cut girls come in! If you would be so awesome to post a picture of your emerald cut ring with the length to width ratio stats I would be so grateful! Thanks!

@PokyTurtle: Emerald cuts do come in a variety of length to width ratios, but the “classic” emerald cut shape is 1.3 to 1.5. I do not know the exact ratio of my ring but I do know that it falls with in that range.

@PokyTurtle: ….depending on your budget and style preference, it can be hard to come by, also a lot of emerald cuts end up being really expensive because you have to have the clarity or any inclusions can be seen easier since there aren’t so many facets to hide them. Shane Company always has them in stock, in a variety of carat weights, I would go there and look around to try things on…you see thinner and fatter emeralds but the trademark rectangle is always the same…try to find a stone that speaks to you and your setting…they work in a lot of different ones…oh and here’s the gratiutious ring shot!

I have no clue what my ratio is, but here is my emerald for reference! Wish I could have helped lol! It’s .5 carat center stone

Thank you for your posts! All of these rings are beautiful. The ratio I’m probably going for is in the 1.4 to 1.5 range and the diamond will probably be ordered from blue Nile 🙂
