Hello Bees…if anyone has an emerald or oval cut diamond set on the side in an “eastwest” setting please post your ring. I would love to see them because I am having my emerald cut set that way with a round ruby on each side. I saw the “finished” product at the jeweler’s yesterday, but there were many things that needed to be fixed. Hopefully it is all resolved this coming week. I have another post about redesigning my ring as well. I hope there are some Bees out there with some inspiration photos that are your own rings…thanks 🙂

@Old Hollywood: oh no! What was wrong with it? :-/ I was wondering if you picked it up yesterday!

I think Kate Beckinsale’s engagement ring has (had?) an e-w set emerald cut. 🙂

I went to pick it up and when they handed it to me it seems just “okay”. Upon closer inspection, by eye and under the scope, I realized why. The rubies initially struck me as being two different colors. I learned that it was because one was tilted and not giving off the same light as the other one. The whole ring was a bit off due to one of the side bezels being higher than the other, the main diamond bezels was hammered in place very unevenly with waved along the entire inner rectangle, the side openings for the rubies were very different shapes and sizes (one was hardly open at all), the diamond bezel did not follow the shape of the emerald. It had suare corners vs. clipped. If you google bezel set emerald diamonds and look at images you’ll see that they usually don’t have harsh corners. The ring was so full of the ‘stuff’ used when a jeweler works on something that Michael (my sweetie) saw black all over the rubies under the scope. The girl had to clean it twice before he could see them clearly. He also saw that all the gold or something was globbed up between one of the side bezels and the diamond’s bezel. It really looked like a child’s art project! This was obviously a rushed job. I understand that it was mostly hand done but this was rediculous. I was surprised because it is a reputable jewelry store. Unfortunately the woman who does the work won’t be in until Monday. They made a list of what needs to be fixed and we are suppose to get a call. I’m not waiting for a phone call! We are going there to talk with her in person. She needs to correct all these major flaws and should do the work as one of her priorities. If not, then we will ask for my diamond back and take it elsewhere. I prefer that she corrects it all though. I will update after we speak with her.

ugh I’m sorry that happened. That sounds totally unprofessional 🙁 I hope they apologize and correct it asap!!!
