I listen to npr on my way home from work each day and not too long ago there was someone on there going on about how a biological warfare attack will probably occur if it’s able to be pulled off. While I’m not trying to alarm anyone this got me thinking about have an emergency preparedness kit at home and in our cars. My Fiance thinks I’m nuts but I think it’s being prepared.
Does anyone have something like this or thought about putting one into place?

Yep! not for bioterrorists, though – hurricanes. We always have a few gallons of water, a generator, flashlights, batteries, food, tools, rope you name it in our garage. My car has a tool kit, a fire blanket, haha. Also, we keep our cat’s travel stuff in one place inside and one in the garage so we can scoop them up quickly if necessary – includes litter, box, scoop, towels, medicine, bowls, and 2 travel bags. hehe, i guess you can say we like to be prepared, too!

Okay…good to know. I think I may start putting these kits together. In all honesty, it would make me have a little more peace of mind.

I keep a winter kit in my car. I blew a tire a few weeks ago in 15 degree weather ajd was grateful to have stuff.
I keep a sweatshirt, blanket, defroster, antifreeze, windshield fluid, oil, all kinds of stuff. oh, flashlights, road flares, etc. All in a bucket in my hatchback.

They laugh at me for wanting to keep a stock of n99 and p99 masks in the basement, but at least Boyfriend or Best Friend agrees to keep canned and dried foods and water.

I think it is a great idea!
Right now I just have jumper cables (which I finally used for the first time on a co-workers car! haha), a flash light, a blanket and one of those things to cut the seatbelt if you go underwater (a gift from my dad…he is all about it).
I also have my AAA card 😉

So I don’t often read it, but not too long ago there was a piece in newsweek about “preppers”. The featured family like stockpiles guns, food, supplies, even things like clotting agents. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with some preparation, but if it consumes you…too much. haha.
