I just found out recently that I’m pregnant, and I’m already supposed to be a bridesmaid in a friend’s wedding. She wants everyone to wear Dessy bridesmaid dresses in the sapphire color. By the time her wedding comes, I’ll be a little over 7 months pregnant. She told me to find a dress that is comfortable and is the same sapphire color as the other bridesmaid dresses.
I looked at the Dessy website, and they only have 4 maternity bridesmaid dresses to choose from. They are all plain and not as cute as the bridesmaid dresses everyone else will be wearing. I found a couple nice dresses in the non-maternity section with an empire waist. They are loose fitting through the midsection, but I’m not sure if they are loose enough for a 7 month pregnant belly. Do you think I could wear a non-maternity bridesmaid dress in an empire waist style? Has anyone done this or known someone who has?
The dress I like the most is this one: http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/2846/#.UIHB08XA-bQ

I would order up at least one size, so that you have room for your belly. You can probably take in the top if you need to.

Dessy has a wrap/infinity/convertible dress… is that an option?

It could depend on the lining. I am able to wear a lot of non-maternity clothes as far as the outer layer, but the lining is too tight. You could probably cut the lining and add material or stretchy panels if you’re able to sew, or have them added by a pro. Or, maybe even cut it out and wear a long slip underneath.
Definitely go up a size or two, and probably be prepared to have it altered – it may fit around your belly but be big somewhere else depending on how your body changes during pregnancy. One thing you’ll need to think of is that your belly may pull the hem up in the front so if the dress needs to be hemmed when you order it you might wait until close to the wedding. Also, depending on how busty you are, adding straps of some sort might be more comfortable as you get further along if/when your boobs get bigger.
It’s a really pretty dress, and I think you’ll probably have options to alter it so it’s really lovely and comfotable!

in this picture my Bridesmaid or Best Man is about 7 months pregnant and wearing a Dessy empire waist dress! this was at my at home reception. She originally wore the dress at my destination wedding when she was 4 months pregnant. In this picture, she could not zip it up all the way in the back, so a bigger size than you are now would be recommended. I don’t even find she looks pregnant in this picture and the dress was amazing on her. I have a better picture we took where we emphasized her belly, but don’t have it with me, i will try to remember to post it later tonight.
