Edited original response (sorry–didn’t read your post carefully enough. It’s early here and I’m not through with my coffee!)
It’s unlikely that you got a positive pregnancy test on the exact date of conception–most tests aren’t sensitive enough for that early. BUT, you also don’t really know when you ovulated, and you could have ovulated earlier, which could make a positive test on a sensitive test strip. Most docs won’t even do an ultrasound until 7-8 weeks (and even then, that can produce a squinter) because they can’t see anything–the embryo is too small. I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks or so and she had to use a vaginal ultrasound because the abdominal didn’t pick up anything, it was so tiny you DID have to squint, and there was no sound on the heartbeat although you could detect the flicker visually. And I measured closer to 7 weeks than 8 myself.

Your levels are fine. I was at 10,056 at 5 weeks, with cramping that was waking me up in the middle of the night. The doctor called me in for an “unscheduled” ultrasound and it measured at 5 weeks & 5 days (3/14). We saw a sac, but no embryo because it was still too early to see one just yet. He was happy with what he saw in the ultrasound and wanted us to come back on 3/31 for another ultrasound to see if the embryo had developed & if the pregnancy was going accordingly. I didn’t feel comfortable with that because he still wanted me to keep my original ultrasound that was scheduled for 4/15, which would have been 3 ultrasounds in a month, so I cancelled the 31st and we go on Friday to see how much our baby has grown & hear the heartbeat. Your levels seem good for how far you are and seeing an “empty” sac that early is totally normal!
Regardless, praying for good news for you!! I think everything will be fine!! Keep us posted, Bee! 🙂

thank you so much that is exactly the information I was looking for in a way I could understand it haha. I wasn’t temping or tracking my ovulation at all so it could have happened anytime. And yes the positive was very very faint on the 30th ..I have pictures posted in another thread. It was the definition of a squinter. Slowly got darker as the days went on.
And thank you to everyone who responded. I am feeling better knowing that it IS possible that it could work out this time. I guess I won’t really know for sure until Monday when I go back to the drs. Thanks everyone.
