SO our engagement shoot in tomorrow and I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am excited to get our pictures taken because I love my Fiance and I can’t wait to get our first pictures as a couple (in 4 years we have never gotten our pictures done) and they aren’t just ANYpictures, they are showing off that we are getting MARRIED!!!
At the same time I am very tough on myself and I am terrified that even as wonderful as our photographers are that I will hate every one of my pictures. I don’t want to look like anything is forced or just plain weird… And I am afraid it will be hard to be natural with them following us around with pictures. Urg.. and I feel like I have nothing cute to wear. I am a jeans and a T kind of girl…
Any tips? Did anybody else feel like this and how did you get over it?

I was super nervous leading up to our shoot… during the shoot I never felt like I really smiled. I was FLOORED by the photos. They were SO beautiful.
Remind yourself that the photogs are pros. They know what they are doing and you hired them for a reason.
As far as outfits… I probably won’t be too much help – I always lean toward dressing up more than not. I say – pick solid colors, accessories and a great pair of shoes. But, most of all – wear something you are comfortable in – if you don’t feel comfortable or good in what you are wearing, my hunch is that it will show in your pics….
EDIT: our photog was also WONDERFUL at getting us both to relax.

Wear comfortable clothing, be yourselves, talk to each other, kiss if you want to, hug if you want to, hold hands and walk away and towards the camera. Dont try to pose too much or it will look very posed!

I have heard that you and your fiance should do something as a couple together. They (photographers) said it would help the couple connect better in the pictures. (Going out to eat, take a walk together, play putt putt, etc.) Anything to get the two of you into “couples” mode.

I was nervous too. We aren’t picture people and our engagement pictures were the first ones we ever had together as a couple. Truthfully, it was awkward at first but after a while, we got used to acting normally and kissing in front of a photographer. If you are a jeans and t-shirt girl, wear that! Just wear a nicer version.
