This is my 3rd time around….and the last time:) I am doing nothing really traditional ….wondering about if I should walk in with my Dad or just myself or someone else?..It kinda seems silly if my Dad walks me in as I haven
t lived with them for years...also I am a grown woman who doesnt need to be given away..Not sure how I feel about it and am wondering what other encore brides are doing or would like to see it from their perspective. It is an outdoors wedding.

I’m an older encore, so my procession may not work for you… My son (22 YO) will be walking me down the aisle; both of my parents have passed on, and I have no siblings.

We’re walking in together. Why shouldn’t he get to have a big, fancy entrance, too?

I walked myself down the aisle. Worked fine for me.

I was thinking of having my 12 year old son walk me down the isle. But I kind of like the idea of walking down together 🙂

I’m also an older encore whose parents have been gone many years. My son-in-law is walking me down the aisle! It was actually his idea and I think it will be great! Originally I was just going to walk down by myself. My daughter is my matron of honor.

I cant walk in with him (FI) as he will be playing a song for me as I walk etc…my parents are both still alive…will ask Mum what she thinks I guess as Dad isnt likely to tell me what he really thinks..I also have a 20year old child & have been wondering about one of my kids walking out with me…thanks for your replies:)

I’m having my 17 year old son walk in with me and stand on my side.

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
I agree it feels a bit odd as a grown woman getting married for a second time to ask someone to walk her down the aisle. I plan to ask my dad on Father’s Day if he would do me the honor of walking me down the aisle a second time. I don’t plan to have the officiant ask who is giving me away; Dad will simply walk me down the aisle and pass me off to my FH then sit down.

My son (15) will be walking me down the aisle.

So those of you that are having someone other than Dad: is it because Dad is no longer around?

I am having an old friend of mine and my older brother escort me. It’s my third time too!

My daughter and future step daughter are walking me down the aisle (eek!) tomorrow!

my adult son walked me down the aisle. it’s been the two of us for years so it was very fitting.

I’ll be walking in with my fiance.
And to answer your second question, my dad is still around and he will be attending the wedding, but it feels wrong to have my dad “give me away” when I’ll be 30 years old and getting married for a second time.
