If you don’t see a use for them, they’re absolutely not necessary. We used ours for save-the-dates and to get comfortable with our photographer. And then we found places to put them here and there around the wedding.

We used ours for save the dates and mainly because we didn’t have a lot of great pictures with just the 2 of us together.

We’re not doing them. You could use them for an announcement in the newspaper, but our parents might put something in their local papers afterwards, so they can use a wedding photo. The only other use I can see is for save the dates, and we’re using pics we already have. I’ll all for saving the money for something else. 🙂

If you don’t see the use don’t do them. We didn’t use ours for anything wedding related but we didn’t have an nice pictures together so I absolutely wanted them. We have several framed in our apartment.

More pretty pictures!!

If you dont see a point and dont need them for Save-The-Date Cards or for a engagement picture photobook or anything like that, dont do them. I wanted to do it, but didnt end up doing them and I dont miss them.

We just got them to get to know our photographer and have some nicer pictures of us. We aren’t using them for anything though!

I got them, and I’m glad I did. It’s nice to have someone take pictures you can hang up in your house. We are not doing save-the-dates, but I have seen some really nice ones done using engagement photos.

We used ours for the Save-The-Date Cards, wedding website, and we had several framed for gifts and for ourselves. Our photographer includes a free e-session so we can get an idea of what her style is, she can figure out how best to interact with us, and we can get a little more comfortable having someone photograph us.

We used our for our Save the Dates and will also be displaying them at our wedding…we also wanted to try things out with our photographer.

Just another vote here for using an engagement sesh to get to know your photographer and for him/her to get to know you and your style. We’re going to use our pics on our wedding website and Save the Dates. We aren’t very good at getting photos of ourselves, even when we take vacations, so we don’t have any nice ones to share yet – just a few in bars where we’re always holding beers and looking sloshed. These will be nice pics for family. Plus, it’s only an hour and $95 for us.

Engagement photos are an excellent opportunity to get to know your photographer and build a rapport with them.  If you are at all nervous about or not used to the idea of being photographed, it’s also a good time to face that. Engagement photos are always a little more awkward than photos on the day of the wedding, as you have no distractions and are more aware of the camera.  I always tell our clients that if you’re nervous about being photographed and can make it through an engagement session, the wedding day will be a snap.

And of course there is also the benefit of having more photos of the two of you.  Our clients use them for save the dates, guest signing books, and sometimes even display them on the tables at the reception.

I will say this, if you aren’t into the idea at all then don’t do them.  As a photographer we can deal with nervous, but to do a shoot for someone who really just doesn’t want to be there, well that’s no fun for anyone!

We love pictures in general, so it was a no-brainer for us! Just a great op to take awesome photo’s! 🙂 But if you don’t see any use in them you can always skip them!
