SO proposed on vacation last week, and he also had chartered a boat at sunset 2 days later for a wedding! I was super excited, because I did not want to do the traditional route, and I have been ready to marry him for years 🙂 He had planned everything, got himself a passport, and had the days planned out perfectly. We had 2 days to shop for a dress (which I ended up finding at a vintage store and it was perfect!) We got our marriage license on Monday morning and got married at sunset on a chartered boat to a sandbar that evening during sunset. Our boat captain was also our officiant, and it was just the three of us on a sandbar in the ocean. It was so beautiful! He had even asked my dad’s permission prior to our trip, which meant the world to me. My family is very excited, and they are holding a family dinner for our families in a few weeks before we leave for our official honeymoon to Jamaica! SO planned that too 🙂 It was amazing to see all the details and thoughtfulness he had put into this! He wasn’t nervous what-so-ever and was so sweet, attentive, and excited to get married! After 4 years, it was so amazing to see how happy he was to make it “official!” I am now a wife, and I am ecstatic!

May I ask where you guys were? We’ve been talking about doing a chartered boat wedding for a little while, but haven’t decided on a location.

Oh my gosh, that’s so exciting and romantic! I think it’s really cool that he found a way to blend your traditional beliefs (asking your father for permission) and your less traditional beliefs (getting married onboard with just your husband and officiant). I’m so happy for you, and it sounds like your family is thrilled! Congratulations. 🙂

Omg, yay!!!! That’s so exciting, and romantic!!! I’m so proud of him, and happy for you that you got the engagement and the simple wedding that you wanted, but your SO did a lot of sneaky work to make it so special and such a surprise! I had a feeling you would be engaged on your trip, but the wedding is just a total shock 🙂
i hope this means my proposal is coming soon!! Hahaha 🙂

Thank you! The place we went out of was Newport Richey (Windsong Charters maybe) which was about 45 min. north of Tampa, Florida. It was very low-key. They have a variety of boats to choose from and times, etc. It was very easy, and I know he booked everything via email. We ended up getting married on a sandbar about 45 min. out into the ocean…. just us, the birds, our officiant, and a dolphin 🙂
