I am so excited to finally get to be apart of the “wedding related” side of things!
I had a feeling it might happen this weekend, but tried not to have any expectations even though I was told to dress nice and wasn’t told where we were going. We went to a very nice Brazilian steakhouse where we felt totally out of our element because $100/per person meals isn’t our scene. It was an absolutely amazing dinner and was so nice since we haven’t had much time together alone in the last month or so.
After dinner we left and walked towards the waterway area, usually there are a few guitarists and people hanging out on the lawn by the water. He insisted on us walking straight through the grass in my heels and I was trying to go towards the sidewalk. As we made our way towards the water I noticed a very familiar person playing a guitar with an amp who happens to be a friend of ours, and it hit me like a ton of bricks that this was actually happening. I thought my heart was going to come out of my chest. A crowd had started to gather around to watch him play and then people realized what was happening as he was playing Adam sandlers “grow old with me” from the wedding singer. I don’t remember anything he said other than “will you please grow old with me?” And I was bawling at that point. After he got off his knee I looked behind him and he had worked it out with some of our photog/cinematographer friends to be there and we ended up with four photogs to catch the whole thing!
We took them for drinks and then said it was about time for us to head to get our son. After we were in the car said there was one more thing and pulled into the Hilton that was near our proposal spot… I had already taken my shoes off and then had to put them back on and so exited the SUV BOTH of my heels hooked onto the bottom of the door and I totally ate it! Bloody kneed we got into our hotel room that he had put rose petals and candles all over before he’d come home from work that afternoon.
It was an amazing night! I was so afraid that the extended wait for it would take away from it (been together almost five years and have been waiting two and a half!). It so didn’t, it was so special and was so worth the very long, frustrating wait.
