I’m new here. I’ve been reading everbody’s posts on various subjects for quite a while now. They encouraged me so much during my waiting period!
Now I’m finally ENGAGED!! I wasn’t expecting it, and I was so surprised and happy!
He proposed to me this past weekend on our three year anniversary. It was absoloutely perfect. I drove over to his house like I usually do on Sunday mornings so that I could drop my car off and we could drive to church together (we live in the very rural south, and everything is a bit of a drive). When I got there, he met me at the door with roses and told me that he was taking me out to breakfast this morning. We went out, had a lovely breakfast, and then made our way to church. After a beautiful church service, he surprised me by saying that we were going to stop and get lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, but that we were going to get it to go and have a picnic up in the mountains. We got lunch, and headed to one of our favorite spots. He took me to the swimming hole/waterfall that we visit often during the summer months. We ate lunch. I gave him his anniversary present, which I hand made. I had written 52 reasons why I loved him on a deck of cards (thanks pinterest!). He got all teary eyed and told me that it was the sweetest present that anybody had ever given him. After this, he carved our initials into one of the trees. Then, he pulled out his guitar and played and sung me a song that we always say reminds us of each other. It was so sweet. After the song he asked me if I wanted to walk over by the waterfall and take some pictures. I said sure (i take pictures of EVERYTHING lol). We headed over there took a few pictures, and then he started hugging me and telling me beautifully sweet things. I kept thinking “Surely not!”. But then he took me by total surprise, and got down on one knee and asked if he could have the honor of me being his wife. He pulled out a completely gorgeous ring, I cried and asked if he was serious about 50 times, and finally said yes.
After spending a blissful hour together just talking about being engaged and how happy we both were, my parents showed up so that my step-dad could take some engagement pictures of us (he has a masters in art and is a professional photographer). We had so much fun just enjoying every moment of it. Finally it was beginning to get dark. My parents left and so did we. We headed over to his house to tell his parents. They were excited and welcomed me to the family. After we went out to dinner at a fancy restaurant to celebrate. It was the best day EVER! I still can’t believe that my FIANCE (!!) planned it all out so perfectly.
Now I am getting ready to start the crazyness that wedding planning and buying a house is going to be!
P.S. Sorry the picture is HUGE. I’m new here and don’t know how to resize lol.
