I just got engaged friday and I started planning right away. My Mr. and I have been dating for 4 1/2 years and have been living together for 3 years. He knew once he proposed that I would be in the thick of wedding planning from the minute we got engaged. I really want to get married soon. 1 month sounds good to me but thats basically impossible. 4 months is slightly possible and 6 months I think is where we are going to land. I’m trying to get a look at places next week and hopefully find the “it” venue so we can set a date.
Trying to be a budget bride. I want to spend the least amount possible. I have always been thrifty and I can barely stomach thinking about how much it all cost to get married. Honestly if it were up to me we would have our family at our wedding and a couple of close friends and that is it. My Mr. is not for that, he thinks everyone he knows should be invited. Also my sister just got married 6 months ago and I feel bad that my parents just forked over that much money and have to do it again.
Going dress shopping on Saturday with my mom, sister, future mother-in-law, and my grandmother. Should be fun! I also don’t want to spend a lot on my dress and my mom thinks I’m crazy to even consider looking at David’s bridal. She thinks that I’m just doing it to save money, not because I actually like dresses they have.
Also graduating grad school in 2 weeks! WOO HOO! I have a BFA in photography and getting my MSED in Art Education next week. This also puts a wrench in the chain because I have NO JOB! So along with wedding planning, I’m trying to fill out applications. YIKES!

Wow congratulations!! I’m so excited for you!!
Can I ask what school you go to? I’m graduating from RIT in a few weeks (though only with my undergrad).
You are certainly ambitious!! I’ve put off doing any planning until I graduate because I have so much to do!

I just graduated from Brockport with an undergrad degree in January. I can totally relate to the stress factor of being a new graduate with no “adult” job pertaining to your degree and planning a wedding. You definitely aren’t alone!

Congrats!! I personally dont like davids bridal.. but thats me, honestly go to different stores and you will find your dream dress for a good price =) Offer the sales person to sale you the sample dress.. that’s what I did and I pay only 900 for a dress that was $3,200. Good luck!!!
