Yesterday, my love proposed at the natural history museum in Chicago. I cannot believe the effort and thought put into this!
He had the ring put in one of the cases in the Hall of Gems, an exhibit showcasing extraordinary gems and jewelry. I was oooing and ahhing over all the gorgeous stones and just about to walk out when my Fiance said “Let’s look at this one over here”. There was one small glass case at the end and my ring was in it! There was a card with a beautiful message printed on it that then said “Please say yes”.
I started crying (not “pretty crying”, haha) and he took the ring out of the case, got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said YES, of course! Then the museum staff had sparkling wine on ice for us. I may or may not have drank most of the bottle, LOL.
We went out for tapas and had a wonderful time (YAY Monday nights at normally very busy restaurants!).
I LOVE MY RING!! We picked it out together, but it’s even prettier than I remember!

What a FANTASTIC Engagement Story… and a truly GORGEOUS ring.
Thanks for sharing with us all.
Your guy sounds like a real keeper in that he was able to make the Proposal sooo unique… and manage to surprise you with the ring, even tho you had been involved in picking it out (seen it before, etc)
What a fabulous way of making YOUR ring a special part of your lives and history too.
Lol, you’ll be now forever able to tell folks that your ring was “Museum Worthy” and was once part of a display at the History Museum in Chicago… will no doubt make for some great memories you can share with friends & family thru the years.
Again, Congrats… and enjoy the Wedding Planning

@This Time Round: He was able to surprise the heck out of me even though I knew down to the day when he was going to do it! I still didn’t see this coming!
It’s a permanent exhibit, too. So we will be able to visit for anniversaries and take our kids there. He thought this through very well. I’m very impressed with him! So is my dad who posted the whole story, from him asking my parents to proposing on facebook and titled it “How to Get in Good with Your Future In-laws”. Then all these other people have been gushing all over my Fiance about it.
I love that he’s having a moment in the sun as The Most Romantic Guy Ever. LOL! He’s very pleased with himself and I am, too.
