I completely understand not wanting to do the whole courthouse wedding. Fiance was supposed to deploy today, but it was changed to tomorrow. People told me that we could have done the courthouse wedding before he left but I want a nice wedding. I’m still learning about the military so I can’t give you advice on everything but I heard that it’s a good idea for military brides to be to get wedding insurance so that you don’t lose money if for some reason the wedding has to be postponed. I plan on looking into wedding insurance myself soon. Hope this helped a little! 🙂

What about doing it during the holidays? The week between Christmas and New Year is always kind of a shoe in for him to take leave and unless he is deployed, I don’t see why they wouldn’t give it to him.

I’m sorry. This is such a difficult situation.

Wedding insurance is absolutely key! We have had to put our wedding back a year, again, due to military commitments. But this does mean I have all the time in the world to plan and make and try dresses on and its all working out well after all. It’s frustrating but it will be sweeter in the end + your guests will understand in the end, your mum might just be a bit to eager to do it now.

Fiance and I will probably marry on the sly this summer, or in Spring in case he gets moved by Dec 2013. Neither of us trust his job enough to risk it. Our families know though, so we’ve been pretty open about it.

I totally understand your problem. I’ve changed my date 4 times due to deployment and training changes for both of us (the last time I had actually already put down deposits). Thankfully all of my vendors were available on the most recent date I chose.

Anyway, what I was going to get at, is similar to what @MissS2MrsD was saying, if you absolutely have to have the big wedding of your dreams the best time to choose is when your Darling Husband is rotating to his next command. One of my squadron mates went for that plan and thankfully it’s going to work out for him. Just see if it’s possible with him.
