My experience will be different b/c I only had a one day session that lasted from 9-3.  Therefore, we went through things pretty quickly.  However, I really liked it.  I had visions of them shoving religion and their view of marriage down our throats but it was nothing like that.  Instead, there were about 43 couples led by one couple.  We went through the workbook that had various exercises about various things you’ll should talk about before marriage.  Think communication, fighting styles, finances, family goals, future goals, etc.  We had already talked through a lot of these but we ended up learning a lot about each other.  The basic format is that you would go into another room to answer questions and them come back and talk about them just the two of you.  And even though there were so many others in the room, it still felt intimate.  Have fun with it!

We had to share rooms at mine (for two nights, actually), and it was fine, just like being in a college dorm! Our evening sessions went until 10 or 11, and the morning started pretty early, so you weren’t even spending that much time in the room.

My biggest advice would be to keep an open mind and open ears, and be ready to write and talk a lot.  It was a great experience for us.

@pandaboo: And just to clarify, it is 90% just talking to your partner, not to the whole group! At my EE weekend, they had a few times when they opened it up for group discussion, but that was always voluntary. Most of the time you were just talking to each other, and no one else was listening in (so don’t feel a need to censor yourself)

We did ours this past August.  We did the weekend thing which we both dreaded but we had a great weekend.  DH isn’t Catholic and he enjoyed the weekend more than I did.

I had to share a room and my roommate was fine.  Most of our conversation was about who was going to get in the shower when in the mornings!  As a PP mentioned, both nights went late, until 10 or 11 and so when I got to my room, I went right to bed!

The weekend is mainly for you to focus on your Fiance and your upcoming marriage and most couples at our EE kept to themselves.  Have fun and enjoy your time!

We are going to our EE weekend in March.  Now that your weekend is over, any advice?  Ours is similar to yours in that it lasts all weekend but I think we have private rooms (me in one and my Fiance in one but no roommates).  I’m hoping we get more information about what to bring/wear/etc!  I like to have a plan and I don’t feel like I know much about it yet!
