Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself. I was going out with my bf for 4.5 years, living together for 3 when he popped the question on Friday! I have a nice rock now and can start wedding planning! I’m 26.
We live in NYC and so far, I’m floored by the cost of weddings here. $150+/head for food only?!?!?!?! I hope to find someplace in the city/outer boroughs, maybe even NJ or Long Island for a decent price.
So please feel free to contact me if there are any other 2012 summer-ish brides here, or if there are any NY bees! NY just seems like such a different world.

Congratulations and welcome to the boards! There is a ton of inspiration and great advice here, so poke around, get familiar with the rules, FAQS, shortforms, and make the search feature your bff(seriously, there is gold in the archives, this site started up around 07-08 so there is a TON of info here).
Also, check out your month twins board, where you can connect specifically with other June 2012’ers.

Congrats on your engagement! I’m sorry New York is so expensive! My fiance and I were also together for a long time (5 years) and living together for 3. I’m glad your fiance got the sense to propose to you! Hope you enjoy the wedding bee. I am so addicted to it so far!

Congratulations and welcome!
I’m an NYC bee as well (although I’m getting married up in Maine). Wanted a little more “low key” feel.
Fiance and I have been together 7 years as of today (we got engaged back in September after 6 1/2 years together and 3 years living together).
Hope to see you around a lot on the boards!

Congrats. I’m a northern NJ bride and I’m sorry to tell you prices aren’t any better on this side of the Hudson.

Wow, thanks for the huge welcome, even from non-NYers! I’ve been stalking the board but didn’t feel “right” registering without being engaged. But here I am! I’ve already gotten so many good tips from here, I’ll probably be on here every single day!
Again, thanks for such a warm welcome!
