Ive been waking up everyday second guessing whether all of this actually happened because it was SO perfect- I never thought i would get everything ive gotten!
We had been discussing marriage for a while, but Fiance had continued making comments that completely threw me off of the actual timeline we would get engaged!
My extended family was visiting from out of town and I was told we were having a big family gathering at my house. Fiance had asked me to spend time with him earlier in the day and suggested we have brunch where we had our very first date, and that I should wear a fancy dress. That in combination with many comments on getting my nails done and thinking how much this would be the perfect proposal, i thought this was it- i even wrote a post on WeddingBee!
My mom told me though that he hadnt asked for consent yet and also he had mentioned the day before that he had just started looking at rings so my conclusion was he was faking me out to throw me off and surprise me later with the actual proposal! I had set in my mind that the day was a fakeout proposal.
After having brunch with no proposal, I was 110% certain it was not happening anytime soon. We left with two cars on the way to my house where the family dinner was. When we arrived, Fiance told me he’s on a phone call and that I should go inside. I walked in to the house with the whole family and my mother insisting we talk outside about something I’ve done. I felt confused and scared! They led me to the backyard door which had the blinds closed. I opened the door to christmas lights, my sister with her camera, and the man of my dreams down on one knee!
The doors closed behind us allowing for a private proposal moment before we headed back inside to celebrate with everyone else! It was absolutely perfect to have that privacy and then celebrate with loved ones- again, I dont know how he got inside the proposal of my dreams!
I later found out that he had taken my parents to lunch months ago to ask for consent and he had been ring shopping and planning the proposal since then! Knowing my mom’s extended family meant a lot to us, he planned for the proposal when they were visiting. Emails went back and forth between him and my parents with specific instructions to every little detail of his plan, and I had no clue.
I had also never mentioned anything Tiffanys; I just didnt think it would happen and it would be too much to ask for….but that was exactly what he picked out! Im still crying days later <3
