Well Bees, after much waiting and speculation as to whether or not my guy was going to propose in 2011 like he previously said he would…
He proposed on Christmas Eve!
In my previous posts I had mentioned that I was very certain that he would pop the question this year as he said that this was the year he wanted to do it. In the weeks leading up to the proposal, he did several things to make me think that it was not going to happen i.e. he took me ring shopping (when he already had the ring!), told me flat out that I should not expect a proposal for Christmas and told me that I shouldn’t expect much under the tree because money is tight. What a clever and sneaky man.
Here’s the story:
Friday, December 23rd was my last day of work before the Christmas holidays. I came home to find my SO there, which is odd because he usually goes out to the pub with the guys after the work week. He had been grocery shopping and was making a lovely dinner for me complete with our favorite red wine. He even had Christmas music playing throughout the house and the fire place was lit. He was extremely affection that evening and we even slow danced in the living room. lol We ended the evening with a movie. It was truly a wonderful night. I kept thinking, I can’t wait to marry this man.
The following day, Christmas eve, I woke up to a huge breakfast prepared by my SO. Very sweet. After that I was tied up with lots of last minute Christmas errands. By the time evening rolled around, we decided to check out a well-known street in town that puts up a lot of Christmas lights. We walked the street since it was not cold, but we were disappointed to see that not many people had put up Christmas lights this year. My SO told me to call my brother and tell him that we would be late for Christmas Eve dinner.
He then took me to our city’s legislature building grounds because the city lights every single tree there with Christmas lights and it is absolutely stunning. When we got to the grounds there were families galore enjoying the lights and Christmas music was playing throughout the area. We started taking pictures of each other in front of the lit trees. My SO then tells me that he wants to take a picture of me on the front steps on the legislature building. So, I walk up to the top step and he is snapping away with the camera. He saw a couple and their children walking past and quickly asked the man to take a couple of pictures of us. The man took two normal pictures and then my SO said, ‘can you please take one more?’ That was when it happened. My SO got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I cried happy tears and said yes (after shaking him and saying ‘are you serious?!’ The wife of the man taking our pictures was crying too.
It was such a wonderful proposal. Right after I went to see my family and give them the great news.
I feel so wonderful. My Fiance is over the moon too. 🙂
Thanks Bees for being there through my waiting!
Pictures to come!
