- Wedding: July 2020 - City, State
Some of you might recall last week, I asked a question of brides who knew the engagement was on the way. I thank all who replied!
As I called it…it happened Saturday! Although, there was some humor to it, as I started to think I was wrong!
We checked into a suite at the hotel I most love in our city, and as soon as we got in the room, the phone rang. The gentleman on the other end said, “Mr. And Mrs. Lastname’s room?” Then he said that they were sending some gifts to our room. I thought, “Holy cats, he’s not wasting time on this plan…” I literally had to bite my lip to keep from smiling!
THEN, the stuff delivered to the room was just stuff from the hotel manager. Due to the industry my guy is in, hotel reps regularly woo him. I was expecting it to be part one of a proposal! Ha, and it was just goodies and nothing romantic. So I really wondered if this was just not a random staycation, as he does get free or drastically reduced stays in our city regularly.
Then we spent the day going to our favorite places downtown, and I thought for sure he was going to propose at my favorite place in the city while we were there. Nope!
By the time we’d retired to the room after a lovely dinner, I was thinking that I was probably very wrong. I KNOW he loves me a ton, but even some worry came into play…knowing he bought the ring…was he having second thoughts?? So we were admiring the view after getting back, and he said, “Has it been a good day?” And of course, I said how great it was. He said, “Wait right here.” And I knew it was coming. He came back to the window, asked me to sit down, and he asked. It was so sweet. We were both just so giddy, and even though I’m a total crier, I didn’t really cry. Close, but no, I did not.
When we checked out in the morning and got out into the light, I was just giggling like a 12-year-old! I loved the sparkle! I’m not too girly, but man, I sure felt girly, and I loved it all.
A cute side note you forum posters will get a kick out of…I commented to him after the proposal that I am am going to love calling him my future husband. He said, “Yeah, I’m your F-H.” And that sweet little dear thinks he coined “FH”!! I don’t have the heart to tell him that acronym is a thing already!
